A passion for African melody and symphony inspired Kulanen Ikyo to pursue a burgeoning career in professional scoring for film and sound design.
The talented composer and sound designer with a Bachelor of Physics degree from the prestigious University of Jos, Nigeria, is gifted with a rare appreciation for the musical sensibilities that are used to aptly convey the sadistic disillusions of the hopeful in Oloture, a Netflix Original.
Kulanen is best known for his talents in Netflix Originals and Series, including Blood Sisters, Oloture, LionHeart, October 1, etc, all box office hits that marked a rise of a new wave in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Aside from being an alumnus of the Film Scoring Academy of Europe and the Berlinale Talent Campus, Kulanen has worked as a technical consultant and sound trainer with renowned film/TV producers, directors, and media organisations, including Netflix, The Guardian, Anakle Films, Lion TV, BBC Media Action, Ebony Life TV, Ten Networks, to mention a few.
In 2015, he won Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award for his works on “October 1”, a feature film by Kunle Afolayan.
His bias toward locally recorded ethnic sounds combined with electronic or symphonic elements reflects in the unique soundscapes that he creates.
Kulanen is the founder and CEO of Inmee International Limited, a media production company in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.
